Tim Noble - Development Director Databases

Leader for backend (i.e., database layer) application development, including application business logic

BIO

Tim Noble leads database (backend) application development and security at Elfen Software.

Before joining Elfen, Tim served in various leadership and development roles in technology fields across defense, financial services and software development industries. Tim was also on the board of directors for a medical software startup in Phoenix, Arizona, where he provided technical consulting and business development support.

Tim served in multiple critical roles from 1991 – 2005 and again in 2008 through 2018 at American Express Technologies.  Widely recognized as an expert programmer and troubleshooter for a wide range of hardware, OS, network, application and database systems, Tim was consistently called upon as a level 3 troubleshooter for major restoration efforts throughout his time at American Express. As a result, he was a “go to” hands-on technical and thought leader for the largest technology program in the company’s history, which included building of a state-of-the-art data center and cross country migrations of over 2500 production applications and active-active/disaster recovery systems.

In 1994 Tim served as lead architect and developer for ExpressNet, the pre-internet America Online (AOL) predecessor to what is today americanexpress.com.  An industry first, the application grew to over 100,000 users in the first month, representing 10% of all AOL subscriptions with unparalleled scalability and availability. With the success of ExpressNet, Tim gained a reputation as a top technologist and became an executive advisor to American Express Interactive Services -- the organization with global ownership for strategy, application development, availability and ongoing consistency of the interactive user experience at American Express.

After briefly departing American Express in 2005, Tim managed infrastructure support teams at Honeywell and was also a senior architect at Computer Associates providing architectural design to many Fortune 500 clients.

Tim earned a B.S. in Management Information Systems from the University of Arizona with the equivalence of a Teaching Minor in Computer Science.
